March 2020 Update
Hello Indies!
Did you do anything exciting for the extra leap year day? Maybe make a frog-themed game in one day? That’s ok, neither did we :0 But we are updating you with the latest news!
February Recap
With another Global Game Jam concluded, we had another Global Game Jam 2020 Game Showcase on February 22nd at Pacific Science Center. Here’s a video recap of the presentations. We even had a Seattle Indies bingo this time!
On top of that, PAX East in Boston wrapped up as well, featuring a number of local creators you might recognized from previous Seattle Indies events.
If you missed the big news, Game Developer Conference is postponed due to Coronavirus concerns. Many of us were really looking forward to the event and are facing a lot of warranted sadness. Here are some tips from our friends at Take This on how to deal with any grief you may be feeling.
With a few Coronavirus cases being now reported in the state of Washington, it’s a good reminder to keep your hygiene game up. Here’s some tips on how you can stay safe:
- Keep your hands clean, and keep your distance from sick people
- Unless you are already infected, face masks won’t help you
- Stock up on home supplies, medicine and resources
- Prepare your family, and communicate your plan
- With your children, keep calm and carry on — and get the flu shot
- About to go on vacation? Consider your destination and how you feel about risk
- Take a deep breath when thinking about the stock market
Upcoming Events
For reasons similar to GDC (Coronavirus outbreak concerns) Seattle Indies has made the difficult decision to cancel the March Social. Stay safe and healthy, work on your games and we’ll see you all back at Optimism Brewing on April 21st, 2020 @ 7pm.
Emerald City Comic Con is just around the corner (March 12-15) taking place here in Seattle – you might even see a few of your local devs there!

You can sign up to demo your game right here and get a chance to have some of the top people in the industry play and critique your game! Here’s the official page for the event.
Seattle Indies will also be participating in HuskyX 2020 at the University of Washington! Several of our members will be there demoing games on Saturday March 7 from 11-7pm at the Husky Union Ballroom and Lyceum alongside many other fun gaming related activities to partake in.
