October 2019 Update
Hello Indies!
Hope you’re not too dismayed by the advent of the rainy season (and perhaps some of you came to Seattle specifically for it?) We’re getting ready for the holiday festivities, but FIRST – there will be some game making!
October Recap
Past month was busy with events and conferences! IndieCade took place in Los Angeles the second week of October, with Elsinore and Headliner: NoviNews representing Seattle Indies. Three days of quirky games, fun after-parties, and obligatory karaoke 😉 Later in the month, Seattle hosted the Mobile Games Forum, a two-day event focusing on (you guessed it!) mobile game development scene. From KPIs to UAs through LTVs, the event had it all.
From artsy to business-y, the two events covered a wide spectrum. If either one intrigues you, keep an eye out around the same time next year!
Local Game Releases
Void Eclipse: A Sci-Fi Strategy Game is now on Kickstarter: “blend of tactical card battler and 4X sci-fi strategy with RPG and storytelling elements. You take on the role of an android newly awoken with an unknown past. Search unique planets and star systems to discover your origins, while saving an alien empire faced with a mysterious threat!” At the time of this writing, it’s already 70% backed, woo! Check it out and support your fellow creators.
Meanwhile, CD-RUN just released on Steam – Fill your friends ears full of screams of joy or rage as you play this chaotic and fun local multiplayer game. CD-RUN is 2 – 8 players, coming out 2019 with three different game play modes. Give it a look!
Upcoming Events
The 3rd annual Seattle Indies Game Jam is taking place on the weekend of November 8th-10th at the Pacific Science Center! If you haven’t signed up, come check out some games. You can also find all of last year’s games right here on Itch, the theme was Unexpected Results.
We’ll also have the next Indie Adventure – a Winter Picnic at the Ravenna Park Shelter on November 17: “Think baked potatoes, soup, hot drinks, roasted chestnuts, s’mores, warmed up apple pie, corn on the cob, bread, and more! Bring something to share (maybe something I just listed). We’ll have at least one grill going to cook and/or heat up food.” Here’s the event info.
As always, keep an eye on our Discord for any last-minute news and discussion, and let us know about any projects you’re working on that you’d like shared on our Steam or Itch collections or tweeted about from @SeattleIndies!
