Ready to Christmas, the Indies Way?
First and foremost, November saw our annual Seattle Indies Game Jam! We had over 100 (!) participants create 23 amazingly weird games under the “unexpected results” theme. Wizards fighting cowboys? Infinite-runner farming-sim? VR Puzzles? Yep, we had them all! Checkout this recap post summing up the event. The devs also had a chance to show off their wild creations at the Show & Tell at the Living Computer Museum (and here’s a recap post of that).
While we’re on the topic of finishing games – our local devs have been busy pressing the launch button. Grunka Munka Games launched Collidalot for the Nintendo Switch and Galvanic Games rolled Rapture Rejects out on Steam’s Early Access! Congratulations to both teams on a huge accomplishment!
Moving on, it’s December, which means our annual Holiday Party coming up on December 9th! You are coming, right? Riiiight? Previous ones were a ton of fun, with a spacious and moody venue, yummy food, and the most excellent excuse to dress up in fancy suits. Or ugly sweaters. Or fancy-ugly-sweater-suits. We’re not picky, we’ll take any unexpected results (har, har).
In misc news, the annual Global Game Jam is happening in January and already open for sign-ups (in case our Seattle Indies Jam didn’t fill your creative needs). Oh, and we did have a number of stellar voice over folks join us for our last social, creating new networking and collaboration opportunities. Make sure to stop by next time if you’re in need of quality VO work!
We hope to see you there and, as always, make sure you keep an eye on our Discord to chat with fellow devs, and let us know about any projects you’re working on that you’d like shared on our Steam or Itch collections or tweeted about from @SeattleIndies!
