Where did August and September go!?

Oct 4th, 2017 by Tim Cullings

Hey awesome indies! Thanks to your continued support, we’ve managed to have so much to do in the past 2 months that I totally spaced on the monthly update for August – which basically means that you all managed to create a stack overflow error in my head. Give yourself a hi-five!

But seriously though, what did you help us accomplish in the last two months? Let me list all the ways…

Our Inaugural Seattle Indies Game Jam (8/4-6)

70 participants created 18 games over the weekend at Living Computers Museum & Labs! Themes were submitted and voted on by our members and the winner was “Definitely Not a Scam”. Participants had 48 hrs to make a game based on this theme.

Seattle Indies @ SODO Summer Session (8/26)

In partnership with Living Computers Musuem+Labs, Seattle Indies showed off the games our creators had made at the Seattle Indies Game Jam to attendees throughout the day. Combined with food trucks, bouncy castles, live music, and a beer garden, it made for a fun summer day – thanks to everyone who came out to say hi!

Seattle Indies Expo 2017 (9/3)

Our biggest and most time-consuming event of the year! Wow, what can we even begin to say? To start – SIX moved to its new home at Motif this year, and allowed attendance to grow without making it feel more crowded. Also, the air-conditioning received rave reviews and our MVP award.

We’re so incredibly proud of SIX this year, from its volunteer-based jurying & feedback system to the fact that it welcomes PAX attendees and community members alike to try out some of the best up-and-coming, locally-created indie games. We can’t wait to make 2018 better than ever thanks to your help!

Seattle Indies @ Renton City Comic Con (9/16-17)

It never rains but it pours, and apparently these few months are huge for cons and con season! Seattle Indies showed 8 games (VR, tabletop, arcade, & PC) to Deadpool, Link, and Tracer, and of course, lots of excited kids!

Seattle Indies @ GeekGirlCon (9/30-10/1)

At our most recent event, we were proud to be a part of GeekGirlCon and help inspire other girls or women to create games with a showcase of games with diverse makeups and gender representations!

Coming up next on Patreon…

Our September Superhero reward was Steam keys for Universe Sandbox, and our October reward will be an awesome piece of Seattle Indies swag! I don’t want to ruin any surprises, but let’s just say you’ll be able to fidget with them…

And don’t forget – if you’ve recently released or published a game on Steam or itch.io, or leave a comment here so we can add it to our collection of Seattle Indies games! You can also tweet us @SeattleIndies so we can retweet you!
