Seattle Indies is proud to present our second annual game jam, where the theme is selected by YOU!

Registration is now live on our meetup page and here:  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/seattle-indies-game-jam-tickets-50451352353

The Seattle Indies Game Jam is generously hosted by the Pacific Science Center (https://www.pacificsciencecenter.org/) where the theme is decided by our wonderful community! Participants will be tasked with creating a game between 6 pm on Friday to 4 pm on Sunday, in whatever format they choose, while using the selected theme as guidance. Form a team with others, or work solo – you decide!

All participants must complete and pass a quick background check per requirements of the Pacific Science Center since there will be guests present during the jam. We encourage participants to interact with Science Center guests and answer questions about the jam and encourage them to try your games if the time is right.

This event is open to all ages, participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. No alcohol or recreational substances are allowed on site.

This year the Seattle Indies Game Jam will have a bit of a competitive element with prizes to be announced as the event gets closer. We’ll have a great lineup of judges and mentors on hand throughout the weekend to help make your projects the best that they can be and then decide on winners at the conclusion of the jam.

If you are an industry professional that wants to help out as a mentor and or judge for the event we are accepting applications here: https://goo.gl/forms/eRHkGhNFRH31GJa02

The Event

Stay tuned to this page and the Seattle Indies Discord (https://discord.gg/join-seattle-indies) for updates!

Doors will open at 5:30 on Friday the 2nd for you to arrive and begin setting up. Opening presentations will begin at 7.

Pizza will be provided at the close of the jam on Sunday during final judging and presentations.

Parking in general for long amounts of time is expensive around Seattle Center. We strongly suggest participants to try to come in groups to split the cost, or to park further away and bus to the event.

Overnight

Security will be on site and assisting overnight, which means the Pacific Science Center will be open the full 48 hours with no interruptions. Please note that there will be a specific door that all participants are supposed to use after hours, located on the North side of the Pacific Science Center entering near the Paccar IMAX Theater. More information will be provided at the event. There will be space provided to sleep overnight, but as always, take care of yourself!

Equipment

As usual for all game jam type events, everyone will need to bring whatever they need to be self-sufficient, including any computer equipment and peripherals. Basic network access will be provided through WiFi and ethernet. We suggest having all of your required software, files, and assets downloaded and saved locally, as cloud services may not always be accessible. Additionally, please try to avoid downloading large files whenever possible.
